Any small defect, like a crack or an inclusion, can affect the optical performance of the lens.<\/p>\n<p>The manufacturing process usually involves steps like powder preparation, shaping, and sintering. First, the raw materials are ground into a fine powder. Then, this powder is shaped into the desired lens form, either by pressing or molding. After that, the shaped ceramic is sintered at a high temperature to densify it and improve its properties.<\/p>\n<p>During the sintering process, it&#8217;s important to control the temperature and the atmosphere. If the temperature is too high or too low, it can affect the crystal structure and the transparency of the ceramic. And the atmosphere can also play a role. For example, in some cases, sintering in an oxygen &#8211; rich atmosphere can help reduce impurities and improve the optical properties of the ceramic.<\/p>\n<p>So, to sum it up, definitely not all ceramic can be used for making optical lenses.
